Implementation Dialogue on strengthening the EU’s civil security competitiveness and facilitating market uptake

The Implementation Dialogue with Magnus Brunner, Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, will bring together high-level stakeholders from the civil security sector.

Discussion will address two themes: 

1. Blockages and bottlenecks for the uptake of innovation, possible fragmentation of the security market, barriers to entry.
2. Potential solutions, simplification and best practices and concrete ideas to overcome challenges and facilitate implementation.

The results of this dialogue will feed into ongoing and upcoming initiatives by the Commission in civil security research, including the implementation of relevant EU programmes, elements of industrial policy for civil security and the upcoming revision of the public procurement directives. It will help identify obstacles facing EU companies and best practices to overcome them. It will help the Commission get a better understanding of necessary improvements for an EU-based autonomous civil security industry to thrive and fuel the security research and innovation sector in the EU.
